newOS4

The Core Philosophy

newOS4 is a Cognitive Operating System. It transcends traditional resource management (CPU/RAM) to manage Agentic Workflows. Intelligence is the primary system resource, allowing the OS to reason, adapt, and evolve its own structure in real-time.

Architectural Pillars

Hyper-Modular Kernel: 45 hot-swappable ES modules across 3 layers (infrastructure/core/ext) tracked in modules-index.json. Cache-versioned loads via ?v=2026-06-03-neuralvfs.

A2A Protocol: Standardized neural communication layer for agent negotiation. Agents register contracts (contract-register), discover capabilities (contract-list), and perform A2A handshakes before delegation. No central broker — contracts persist in VFS.

Neural VFS: Semantic concept indexing replaces hierarchical paths. Four terminal commands (nvfs-index, nvfs-resolve, nvfs-tree, nvfs-status) plus concept:// URI handler — cat concept://skill resolves through the semantic index.

Recursive Self-Optimization: Integrated feedback loops via system-health telemetry command. Logs tool latency, VFS stats, module counts, and error rates. Telemetry hooks embedded in AI tool-calling paths for continuous diagnosis.

Strategic Roadmap

Phase 1 ✅ Foundation: WebX11 terminal stability, VFS perfection, and Procedural Memory (Skills).
Phase 2 ✅ Agentic Shift: AI tool-calling loop (19+ tools), session_terminal context access, tool failure buffer + auto-skill creation, agent orchestration (list, register, leases, orchestrate). Security layer (security-level 0-3). Debug panel. Localized asset management.
Phase 3 🟢 Cognitive OS: Neural VFS (4 nvfs commands + concept:// URI handler), A2A Protocol (contract-register + handshake), system-health telemetry (tool latency, VFS stats, module counts, error rates), module layer separation (45 modules across 3 layers with modules-index.json). Remaining: Predictive resource allocation, Global World Model.
